FOSSIL FIND
KINSMEN PARK
ALL AGES
Get your hands dirty searching for real fossils! When the ocean that once covered much of North America dried up, it left behind the remains of sea life. Over time, most of the material became phosphate particles. This is mined for use as a very important ingredient in plant food. Some of the ancient remains were too hard to break down so became fossils. At Nutrien’s Fossil Find, participants are invited to sift through phosphil, a gravel-like material produced during phosphate mining, to search for these fossils. This exhibit is a big attraction at the Children’s Festival each year
